I just got back from a bike ride over to the University. As I rode through the pathways I came on a group of people gathered around a sound system... some live entertainment! To my dismay, it was Karaoke time at the U. As I slowed down to find a place to perch, the next fellow was up. And you guessed it, he belted out Aretha's classic hit.
Tell me - what am I in for as a newby University student???

I must say I'm a huge karaoke fan! I think you'll do just fine at the U :0)
LOL - I'm not sure. Staying up later at night? I had a click of atheletes I hung out with so thingss were different for me... I had more of a family when I went to school.
it only gets "better" from here!

I think you are in for some interesting times from the sound of it!
Janice~
you'll be in for some good times...get to know where the beer gardens is...where the cool kids hang out...where the closest fast food joint is...and where to buy condoms...(that's what I've been told)
all the best...
guggs.
College still ranks as the craziest fun I've had in my life. So, in essence, you're about to have the craziest fun I've had in my life. You have your mission. Carry on!
4am is the new 1am in University embrace the ol' Java...!
'99 - I think we've found one thing we differ on in opinion. I don't much care for karaoke. The Oriental culture tends to do it well - with the intention to sing... well. North Americans? As far as I've seen? It becomes a pass-time for drinking sessions and I've heard it all!
Vera - It'll be interesting in years to come to visit "my old University" - wonder if I'll really ever leave?
Janice - I'll be sure to keep you posted!
Guggs - You are definitely younger than I!
Susie - A phone I will carry, doubtful I'll be sporting a knife...
Jeremiah - If you wish to live vicariously through me, I caution you not to expect the "wild" times of YOUR youth. Turtle, shell, 'nuff said.
Sare - Yes, but thankfully 40 is the new 30 and I'm not there yet... I may survive!
LOL - too funny...yes you! :)
Well, was the singer wearing a cute bandana headband and sporting some bright pink lipstick?
You go, girl!!
Uh, Turtle Guy, i predict you will see more and more oddities at the U. Brace yourself!
How funny. I think of it as being Carole King's song. :)
ANYWAY, I think karaoke is a fun way for people to be expressive. Singing is full of magic to the soul. I have a good singing voice, so I've been roped into singing karaoke with one (or a few) people... mmm... about four times. The last time I realized I AM NOT A PERFORMER! So, I just say "NO" now when asked. I don't care how much they pressure me (or how drunk I am).
My singing is just for the benefit of children. They're the best audience anyway.
