Reflecting on wise words

The journey of humanity
is the journey from
ignorance to enlightenment.

A rather simple, but very profound experience made me think of this statement from a couple posts back. It also caused me to realize in a very immediate way just how much time we - or more appropriately I - spend in "ignorance".

Two things struck me like lightning.

ONE - There's an aweful lot of "thinking" going on around here and not a whole hell of a lot of "doing".

TWO - Ignorance can strike as a result of want without thought.

So... thought is necessary, but stalling one's self in "thinking" mode is detrimental to forward motion.

Or as my sons' dad used to say in his Arkansas drawl:

"Do something dammit, even if it's wrong".

Hmmm... I agree with you there. I too have the bad habit of analysing something for too long and not acting.

I think, and thinking gets me in trouble, that women tend to think things out and then act, while men act and think about it later. At least that's the way it seems to work in the Pop family. :)

I am guilty as hell of thinking too much and, as a result, I freak/psych myself out before I even do anything. I find that, in my good moments, when I practice "thoughtful action," meaning, performing an action with a clear idea of how you want the action to be recieved, or turn out, things always come out good, or, at least honest.

I just seem not to have enough time for the doing part. I'm fine with the thinking. Just give me a faster computer and speed my process up so I can join the outdoor world a bit more!
