Well, after four months at pottery, last night I finally made my first ash tray!
Um... it's not supposed to work that way, is it? Ash trays are supposed to come before fine dining pieces.
Well, truth be known, my first piece which turned out rather well is far from high-end stoneware!
I tried posting photos, but "blasted Blogger" was being uncooperative. I'll get some pics up as soon as I am able.
Hi Dave,
ReplyDeleteI took three years of ceramics in high school and two years of sculpture in college; and I can honestly tell you, you have to start some where. After all you have to crawl before you can run(ceramic wise).
Janice~
I'm looking forward to seeing your Ashtray :)
ReplyDeleteI wonder what it might fetch on eBay. :)
ReplyDeleteBut who smokes???!
ReplyDeleteIf you don't smoke what will you use it for?? A key dish perhaps??
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the masterpiece! :)
Yay! An ashtray! I wish I was crafty like that, because ALL of my friends are smokers, and that would be a great gift! :0)
ReplyDeleteLOL at ~qz~ comment.
ReplyDeleteSave it and some day if you become famous, they can put it in an art museum. ;)
Yes, this was the master's first piece. A quaint little ashtray. (The people will ooo and ahhh.
can't wait to see your work! I was having problems posting pics on my blog until I switched to beta....it's much better.
ReplyDeleteI also cannot wait to see it. But even without the picture, I applaud your creation. Just as you were talking about with the grade on your essay...it isn't about the perfection ..it is about the journey and learning to do it the best you can.
